Derby County and Aston Villa eyeing up prolific Premier League starlet

According to the Irish Mirror, Derby County and Aston Villa are both interested in Watford’s goalscoring youngster Ryan Cassidy.

Championship promotion hopefuls Derby County and Aston Villa are both keeping tabs on Watford starlet Ryan Cassidy, it is being reported.

The Watford starlet has been catching the eyes of suitors after bursting his way onto the scene with The Hornets’ young side last season. The 17-year-old netted 25 goals for Watford’s young sides last season and has made his way into the Under-23s this season.

Cassidy has been a regular for the Under-23s this season, scoring 12 goals throughout the first half of the season. He joined Watford’s academy from Irish side St Kevin’s Boys last season and has made himself one of the club’s most highly rated youngsters in his brief spell at Vicarage Road.

The Irish Mirror writes that they are keen to tie down the striker to a long-term deal with the Premier League club. Interest from other English sides could force them to move faster to ensure he doesn’t move elsewhere.

Premier League side Everton are reportedly joining Derby County and Aston Villa in the race for the Irish youngster. Toffees boss Marco Silva first set eyes on Cassidy when he was manager at Watford and he is keen on a reunion with the striker.

An unnamed side from the Dutch Eredivisie are also looking to bring the striker in on loan for the season but this will only happen if he signs a new deal with Watford first.
