Everton goalkeeper Emily Ramsey has suffered an injury setback and will not play again this season.

While stepping up her rehab, she injured her other ankle.

"I am absolutely devastated. This has been without question, my most frustrating season personally," Ramsey wrote on X.external-link

"I'm fully focused on coming back stronger than ever next season and getting back to doing the thing that I love most."

Brian Sorensen's Everton are currently 10th in the Women's Super League with four games remaining.

Ramsey was initially expected to be out for "more than a month", but she is now targeting a return for the 2024-25 campaign.

"Following a slow and taxing few months of rehab in a bid to return to first team action before the season ended, last weekend I was preparing to play in a friendly ready to get 90 minutes of football under my belt after only two weeks of full training. A game I was thoroughly looking forward to," Ramsey added.

"Unfortunately however, on Friday I suffered an injury to my other ankle and now await an appointment with a specialist to decide if it needs surgery."
