Football accumulator tips for this weekend [20-21 April 2024]

We have another big weekend in the Premier League on the horizon as the finish line comes into view.

We have focused on five of the games taking place on Saturday and Sunday, picking out a betting tip for each of them.

A £10 wager on our three-leg acca would pay out £64.43, while the same stake on our five-leg version offers a potential return of £215.26.

Fulham vs Liverpool: Draw at half-time (13/8)

Liverpool have ceded the initiative in the Premier League title race in recent weeks, drawing 2-2 with Manchester United and then suffering a shock 1-0 home defeat by Crystal Palace.

Those two results knocked Liverpool down to third place, although they are only two points behind Manchester City in top spot.

Jurgen Klopp’s side need to regroup and get back on track, but they have looked a little leggy of late.

They also have an unhelpful knack for conceding the first goal: Liverpool’s opponents have broken the deadlock in 14 of their 32 games, compared to 11 for Manchester City and seven for Arsenal.

The Reds were in action on Thursday night, which only increases the chances of them being slow out of the blocks at Craven Cottage.

Wolves vs Arsenal: Arsenal to win (4/11)

Arsenal were also beaten last weekend, going down 2-0 to Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium.

They were then knocked out of the Champions League on Wednesday night, as Bayern Munich ran out 1-0 winners in Germany.

Arsenal’s season is in danger of falling apart, so it is vital that they nip this downturn in the bud against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Gary O’Neil’s side can be tricky opponents for the division’s top sides, as Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have found to their cost in 2023/24.

Arsenal may have to grind this one out, but we fancy their chances of doing that, chiefly because of their defensive solidity.

Luton Town vs Brentford: Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals (4/5)

Brentford fans were able to breathe a sigh of relief after a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United last time out.

One more win would almost certainly guarantee the Bees a place in the Premier League next season, but Luton Town need much more than that.

One point adrift of safety heading into the weekend, they will climb out of the relegation zone (at least temporarily) by triumphing here.

Luton’s run-in does not look too daunting on paper, but their defensive record is cause for concern.

Their games this season are averaging 3.5 goals, while both teams have scored in a league-high 26 matches involving the Hatters.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest: Under 2.5 goals (10/11)

There will be plenty of tension at Goodison Park on Sunday when these two relegation rivals go head-to-head.

Everton were stuffed 6-0 by Chelsea on Monday night, leaving them just two points clear of the drop zone.

Nottingham Forest are a point below Everton and one above Luton Town in 18th place, so this is a crunch clash for both sides.

With just one win in their last 15 Premier League outings, confidence within the Everton camp is low.

Given their attacking struggles, Sean Dyche’s side will be keen to keep things tight at the back. Goals could be few and far between in this one.

Aston Villa vs Bournemouth: Aston Villa to win (3/4)

All of a sudden, it looks like the Premier League will not be given an additional spot in the Champions League after several English sides were eliminated from Europe in midweek.

That is bad news for one of Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, who are now engaged in a two-way tussle for the all-important fourth place.

Villa have a three-point lead and a superior goal difference, although Spurs have played a game fewer.

And with the north Londoners not in action this weekend, Unai Emery’s side have the chance to move six points clear of their rivals for the final Champions League berth.

Villa will not have everything their own way against Bournemouth, who are targeting a top-half finish. But Emery’s team should be able to get the job done one way or another.
